Milly is a calico cat who knows every smell, sound, and secret corner of her Singapore home. But when moving boxes start filling the apartment, her whole world is about to change…all the way to San Francisco. What Milly doesn't know is that her best friend Oli has already made a plan. A very thorough, very Oli kind of plan. Because no matter where life takes Milly, he has no intention of letting her face it alone.

“A warm, funny picture book about moving, friendship, and the brave curiosity it takes to explore a brand-new city."

Who's in the carrier?

Milly the calico cat

Milly

The Bold Explorer

A calico cat with a nose for adventure and a knack for squeezing into places she absolutely shouldn't. Her senses pull her into the world before her brain says wait — and she always finds something magical.

"What's that smell?"
Oli the mouse

Oli

The Reluctant Strategist

Short for Oliver. A mouse with rectangular glasses, a bougainvillea bow tie, and a teal satchel packed with contingency plans. Cautious, classy, and constitutionally opposed to spontaneity — but utterly devoted to Milly.

"Oh pickle."
Emma

Emma

The Warm Home Base

Milly's human mommy. Warm, steady, and the emotional anchor of every adventure. She moves Milly from Singapore to San Francisco — and carries home with her wherever she goes.

Home is wherever Emma is.
The story behind the story

Meet the real Mila

I adopted my calico cat, Mila, during the Covid lockdown in the summer of 2020 through an online adoption drive by a local shelter in Singapore. At a time when the world felt uncertain and small, she became my lifeline and best friend.

Mila has always led with her nose — inspecting every package I bring home, sniffing out creatures hiding in Singapore's tropical heat, and proudly presenting the occasional gecko as a gift. Watching her explore the world with such fearless curiosity was the first spark behind Milly.

When we moved from Singapore to San Francisco, I was overwhelmed. Mila meowed for the entire twenty-hour journey, then burst out of her carrier and immediately began exploring every corner of our new home as if she had always belonged there.

She taught me something I've been trying to say ever since: the not-knowing is the most exciting part.

This book is for every child (and grown-up) who has ever stood somewhere unfamiliar and felt that pull of curiosity about what might come next. Home can be wherever you make it, especially with the right companions by your side.

Two cities.
One cat.
Zero regrets.

Eunice is a third-culture kid and cat mom who believes curiosity is the bravest thing a person (or a cat) can be. A former lawyer turned founder turned venture investor, she has spent her career betting on bold ideas and following her own instincts across five cities and four continents. When she moved from Singapore to San Francisco in 2023 with her adopted calico cat, Mila, she found her next adventure.

Milly & Oli: The Great Big Move is for every child (and grown-up) who has ever arrived somewhere new and felt that pull of curiosity about what's just around the corner.

Eunice lives in San Francisco with Mila, who has opinions about everything. This is her first picture book.
